Volunteer Stories

Long term volunteer Suzanne Coop is off to pastures new.  Suzanne came to the village just after the shop opened was one of our earliest volunteers, and she and her electric wheel chair are now familiar figures in Barford.  Suzanne says she has gained a lot in confidence and in friendships from working in the shop. Also that fellow volunteers now have more respect for the abilities and capabilities of disabled people than when she started.

Her latest career move is to go to college to qualify as a classroom assistant.  She will be working at Round Oak school  where she hopes that her own experiences as a disabled student will help the children there.  We wish her all the best in her new

 career.

Corenna's Barny Army

Christmas treat for the volunteers was a barn dance hosted by Margaret Baker (Scottish Country Dancing teacher).  Good night was had by all. John Murphy brought speed rather than grace to his gallops! Even Santa paid us a visit, but we were not good enough for a present. Refreshments supplied by the shop - alcohol supplies luckily held out all evening.
