Would you like help with
setting up your own Community Shop?
We are a Community
Shop and Post Office with small internet cafe
attached
To get ourselves off
the ground we had to:
Raise funds through
grants activities and loans
Design and build our
shop to green standards. Install play
equipment and tables outside.
Source and set up an
electronic till and stock management system.
Create documents to
fulfil our legal requirements - risk assessment,
COSSH, Health and Safety, Volunteer handbook,
Environmental health, Volunteer rotas.
Fit out and stock it
making contact with local suppliers and a main
wholesaler.
Recruit, train and
retain sufficient volunteers (approx 80)
to cover full time shop opening.
Recruit and pay a
full time manager.
We have now been running very successfully
for two years.
We would be very happy to share our
experience and our documentation to help you get
your shop going. Be prepared for hard work
but the positive effect on your community will
be fantastic.
